Russia buys 66,960 tns of grain for intervention fund at NAMEX
MOSCOW, Oct 19 (PRIME) -- The Russian government paid 610.608 million rubles to buy 66,960 tonnes of grain for its intervention fund at the National Mercantile Exchange (NAMEX) on Tuesday and Wednesday, down 26.2% compared with the previous week, according to data of the exchange seen by PRIME.
The government bought 20,780 tonnes of grain for 283.439 million rubles on Tuesday and 36,180 tones for 327.169 million rubles on Wednesday. The government bought fourth-class and fifth-class wheat.
The Agriculture Ministry plans to buy 600,000 tonnes for its intervention fund by the end of the year and up to 2 million tonnes in the 2016–2017 agricultural year.
As of October 14, the intervention fund comprised 3.288 million tonnes of grain worth 29.349 billion rubles.
